We have a recipe that we fondly call ‘Stir-Fried Crack’, a) because it’s so darned good and b) because it’s so darned good I have to protect the wok from prying forks and fingers before I’ve even served it up. It’s a stir-fried dish (maybe its nickname gave that away?), and I’m putting the recipe in the recipe section, but the short of it is some sort of meat (I’ve done chicken, ground beef, even pork tenderloin) that is browned in sesame oil (the dark stuff that smells yummy) and soy sauce. Then I add in one package of ‘broccoli slaw’ and one package of regular cole slaw (the raw cabbage, not the stuff that’s already made up), cook it and let it wilt. There’s a little more to it than that with some added spice and whatnot, but it’s really that easy. And I serve it up over rice, but we’ve also been known to eat it without rice~it’s both light and filling at the same time.

So tonight, the cat-who-thinks-he’s-a-dog (Caspian by name) came up and licked out my bowl while I was reading to Brendan and Mark, then walked over to Brendan’s spot where he can expect to find kid-droppings from dinner and cleaned up those, and finally over to Mark’s empty bowl~all to lick out remains.

He recently snuggled next to Mark, purring, and when I picked up the dishes to squirrel away, he perked up and watched me intently to see if I’d let him lick another bowl.

If you think he’s not well-fed, he is~he just has a strange affinity for Stir Fried Crack. So maybe it really IS addictive!

You can find my recipe listed under “stir fried crack.”.
