The first “Official Snow” was seen at Detroit City Airport on November 5, in the wee morning hours. And supposedly, it snowed out here that morning, too. But I didn’t see it. So technically, it didn’t count. 😉

This morning found us driving back from Ann Arbor after taking Mark to work, and waiting at a traffic signal in the middle of Dexter to come home, I saw something fly past the windshield~something that looked suspiciously like *snow*. But I figured it was a piece of paper or ash from a fire or something like that and I dismissed it.

But as we were getting closer to the house, there was no denying what it was–it was actual SNOW. 😀 And as I sit here and type, there are large, flat flakes falling everywhere. The weird thing is that the thermometer is reading 34.5F, which is above freezing, and yet the flakes are solid, not liquid. Weird.

So in some odd way, this is a bit exciting. Last year when we arrived in mid-December, there was very little snow and quite a bit of ice. Not exactly a fun change in weather for us–Kentucky has lots of ice every year and a little snow. But this is our first official autumnal snowfall in our house (notice all the qualifiers there?) and it reminds me how blessed we are to be here, snug and cozy in our home, watching the flakes float down. Even though it’s early, I’ll be putting the Christmas playlist on iTunes this morning. :)

I love this time of year! :).

Yeah, it’s pretty cold down here in KY! At least the grass has turned back green again!

I miss the warm weather already (mostly because I don’t have the appropriate cold-weather footwear yet for kayaking).
