(with blueberries)

1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
___________________mix above together in a large bowl with a whisk

3 T. sugar or equivalent alternative sweetener (I used organic agave nectar)
3 whole eggs, beaten
1/4 c. butter, melted
2 c. buttermilk (if you don’t have it on hand, use 2 c. milk and add 2 T. vinegar or lemon juice to make a buttermilk substitute)

____________________________mix above together briskly until sugar is dissolved, & eggs & buttermilk are incorporated.

Add wet ingredients to dry, mix well. Add blueberries via folding-method and let it sit for 4-5 minutes to induce a rise.

Heat waffle iron and bake waffles until done. :).

Made these this morning with a couple of changes. Used 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1 cup organic brown rice flour. Also added 2 tbsp ground flax.

Made a syrup using some frozen blueberries, blackberries and cherries that I had in the freezer. Included the juice of an orange, 2 tbsp raw honey and 1 tbsp powdered sugar.

Yum! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

What can you substitute for Whole wheat flour?

    Renee –

I’m not sure I understand your question. WW flour IS the substitution (for white flour). Do you want to substitute another flour? Are you gluten-free or trying to be GF? Let me know and I might be able to better answer your question.

    Thanks for reading! :)
