So I completely tempted fate today and gave Nettie her little countertop microwave to take back home. We’ve installed the new micro-hood (exchanged at ABC Warehouse) and it has run consistently for 3 days now. So the real test comes now that we don’t have a backup. Will it run? Will it croak? Or am I far too cynical and jaded for my own good? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I think I know the answer to that one. ๐Ÿ˜•

The new carpeting in the lower level was installed today and I just can’t get over how GREAT it looks. It completely changes the feel of this room–instead of being dark and cave-ish, it’s bright and welcoming. And quite homey. So now I get to finish unpacking down here and setting things up, which makes me insanely happy. And then I get to move on with the rest of the painting, sewing, and otherwise setting up house that I’ve wanted to do, but haven’t been able to do.

And how’s this for weird: I took the covers off the Ikea loveseat to wash tonight, and there was a pink tinge at the bottom of the sofa skirt. Odd. I didn’t spill anything…So as I’m using Shout to pretreat a few spots, I realize what the pink is: THE RED CARPET BLED ON IT. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I am aghast at this–I still can’t get over anyone putting red carpeting in this house, but more than that, that it would *bleed*???? I find that incomprehensible! I figure we had wet pants or damp shoes from the snow at some point this last week and the wetness caused the carpet to bleed. :( It had better come out (I pretreated it and am washing it in warm water with a colour-catching cloth to absorb any excess dye that might come out).

And then there’s my fabric finds today–I found fabric locally that I’ve hunted all over the internet to find! ๐Ÿ˜€ I fell in love with a Waverly pattern than has been discontinued (figures!) and that Waverly wanted $39.50/yd for. You have GOT to be kidding me! Unless fabric is woven with 24K threads, it’s not worth $40/yd to me! Anyhow, Hancock Fabrics in Ann Arbor had all of their decorator fabrics on sale (50%off) today for President’s Day and I stumbled on their last bolt of the pattern I wanted. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ And get this: because it has been discontinued, the price had been lowered to $20/yd in order to entice buyers. Which means that I got it (on sale) for $10/yd! ๐Ÿ˜€ Happy happy joy joy!! So I found that fabric and some beautiful burgundy sheers for swagging in our bedroom that was only $2/yd and oooooh, I am so excited about this! I know it will be a lot of work sewing this stuff (the duvet cover, specifically), but I think it’s totally worth it. :).
