We had a great day yesterday–Callie, the daughter of my friend Elizabeth came over while her mom went to her final OB appointment of her pregnancy. As it turns out, Elizabeth headed to the hospital yesterday to have the baby, and we kept Callie and her brother Noah overnight.

What fun! And what chaos! And what LAUGHTER filled our home. πŸ˜€

It was crazy, it was a treat, and it was noisy all at once. The kids were thrilled to play, run, romp, and tackle each other, and then the joy of all sleeping in a lump on the sofa bed was just about more than they could handle. πŸ˜‰ Of course, they had their territorial issues and some refereeing was necessary, but after dinner, some candy, shirt-making (announcing their status as big brother and sister), and watching “The Little Mermaid,” they piled in to the sofa bed (it was 8:30pm). And then promptly did NOT fall asleep until well after 10:00pm. 😐 Argh. 😐

So we (mistakenly) thought that they would sleep late this morning. Nope. No such luck. At 6:00am, these kids were awake and raring to go. :::yawn:::

I got them fed, cleaned up, and we played outside (well, they played and I planted pansies), came in, drank hot cocoa (with icecubes in it), ate apples and string cheese, watched “The Little Mermaid” again, and I got the kids to their requisite busses and/or classes. And so Brendan naps and I look at the wreck of my house and think, “How am I going to get this done before the showing tonight?” πŸ˜• Ugh. Well, as blogging won’t get it done, I need to quit writing and get things straightened up and vacuumed before too much more time passes.

What a joy all that giggling and laughter was–it reverberated off the walls and in my ears (our house is pretty quiet normally), but after I got used to it, I reflected on how much fun it was and what memories the kids were creating. I can’t wait until my house is noisy and full of kids that don’t have to go home when they’ve played themselves out here. :)

Oh, and by the way, Elizabeth had a little girl:Β  Lucy Patricia.Β  πŸ˜€.
