Wow, I can’t believe I haven’t posted since Tuesday. I’ve been running around in circles to where I feel like a pup who never catches her tail–although she comes close.

We instituted a new behaviour-modification program for Brendan this week–sort of a reward-situation for him. I made 3 clothespins in different colours and with different symbols (a :) , a ๐Ÿ˜ , and a :( on them) and we set up this situation: for each time-out he gets, he gives me a clothespin. He’s permitted 2 time-outs per day (because no kid is perfect). On the 3rd time-out, he gives me the :( clothespin and loses his reward for the week. After the 3rd clothespin, he also begins to lose privileges. If on any given day he loses 2 clothespins and not the third, he will get the two ‘lost’ ones back the next morning to start the cycle over again. I’m hopeful it will work for him–anything has to be better than last week. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ And ultimately, he has to understand that bad behaviour is not rewarded and good behaviour is–whether it’s with a trip to the DQ or a paycheck or a promotion at a job.

We also began homeschooling worksheets this week. Brendan’s been working on phonics and letter mastery online (at Starfall, and I printed out a set of worksheets today. They go over the same letters and symbols as on the web pages, but there’s also the chance to work on printing the letters and doing interactive (human to human-interactive, not human to computer-interactive) games together. He worked on several pages today; I intended only to do one letter per day (there are several pages per letter), but he BEGGED me to do another one. Hey! my kid is begging to learn…how can I *not* be pleased and want to work with him more? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve also been deep cleaning and pitching more stuff as I pack boxes around here–the laundry room was done today. And it’s a darn good thing I got my new glasses last night (and have them on today)–all the dust I stirred up from trolling under the washer and dryer (can you say, “ewwwwww!”?) has made my eyes even redder than they were just from the ragweed. But now it’s done. So for that, I’m glad, but it really made me aware of the need to vacuum under the appliances more than I do.

And speaking of vacuuming, I’m totally in love with my Kirby. ๐Ÿ˜€ Seriously–I found it on ebay for a fabulous price and haven’t regretted a penny of the purchase. And today confirmed it for me–all the dust and kittie cookies that were dried and under the dryer (yes, another obligatory “ewwwww!” goes here) are now locked in the bag of the Kirby, never to come out or bother me again. :)

So now I’m headed to knit the last of the baby blanket i’ve been working on and watch the 2nd half of “The Two Towers.” I have to get my Tolkien fix in somehow and the knitting won’t wait for someone else. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And there goes the dryer–time to swap out loads and make sure the towels are dry for tomorrow morning. :).
